The activities were perfect. Everything was optional, so you could do as much or as little as you wanted, but each thing we tried felt thoughtfully planned and worth the time. The accommodations were beautiful and the staff went above and beyond at every turn. What made it even more special... the people. We were there alongside other families with kids, three recent high school graduates, a group of adult women traveling together, and a few couples without children, and somehow everyone just clicked. There was such a warm, easy sense of community the entire time. And the food. The food and the gorgeous setting truly set UXU apart. Every meal felt like an event, and the surroundings are simply stunning. The best testament I can give? Our 12-year-old actually cried when it was time to leave. She told us she'd like to move there. If that doesn't say it all, I don't know what does. Thank you, UXU, for giving our family a vacation we'll never stop talking about. I could not have found a better place to spend my vacation. Jon and his staff are amazing and make it their goal for every guest to enjoy themselves. From the trail rides on beautiful horses through beautiful country to the whitewater rafting trip, rodeo night, and the guided tour into Yellowstone, the aim is for the guests to have a blast. If all that isn't enough, there is the delicious food! Going to a Dude Ranch has been a bucket list item of mine for years, and I'm pleased to say UXU didn't disappoint! The ranch is definitely a "Choose Your Own Adventure" experience, and we opted for the jam-packed itinerary which included multiple trail rides, Cody Night Rodeo, river rafting, and a full day at Yellowstone. Were we exhausted by the end? YES. But we're so glad we didn't miss out on any of the activities! The cabins and ranch are clean and in great shape. UXU's head wrangler, Sutton, and her team also take excellent care of their horses. All staff and wranglers were lovely and were truly committed to making sure you enjoyed your time there. I also want to give a special thanks to Chef Romi and her team, who did an excellent job feeding us. Everything was great, but her mashed potatoes and gravy were next level. YUM. All her meals were inspired by the West, and after a LONG day of activities, we always brought our appetite! Each dude ranch has its own vibe and style, so I would compare this vibe to a summer camp. Guest count is small at any given time (I think we had about 20 guests), which helps keep the experience very personalized. All guests arrive on the same day, dining is family style seating, and lots of group activities so you get to know each other. My husband and our three kids (ages 6, 11, 16) stayed in June 2026. We had been planning a Yellowstone trip for over a year and this was going to the highlight of the trip. It was our first long vacation as a family of 5 and it did not disappoint. We flew into Bozeman, drove to UXU and stayed for 5 nights before going back to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons on our own. The service and activities were excellent. Loved the rafting, horse riding, rodeo, and all day tour of Yellowstone. We were treated as an important guest, not just a number. Every staff member was exceptional. Sutton and the wranglers were phenomenal with us as novice horse riders. But the food- wow. The food is what pushed the UXU to exceptional and made this a relaxing vacation. Everything was delicious, and Romi the chef accommodated my little picky eater with a smile. We have 3 daughters ranging from 6 to 16, after all these years they all voted this the best vacation that any of them have had. We would love to come back again. We started off with a ride through the Shoshone National Park, with the most gorgeous views but comfortable and safe paths for all levels of riders. After our ride they have options to purchase mocktails and cocktails with a huge variety! We finished our evening with a meal at the lodge, the Chef Romi created wonderful salads, cornbread, potato’s, BBQ chicken and ribs! I could not recommend this place more! I have told so many people about the amazing experience I had at UXU and I am so glad we are finally getting the chance to return this August, it has been too long! The food, the atmosphere, the breathtaking scenic views, the trail rides, and the cozy log cabins provide an outstanding experience. It is everything you imagine when thinking mountain west vacation. Highly recommend visiting during summer to see the beauty of the mountains, wild flowers, Cody Nite Rodeo, and driving through Yellowstone National Park. It is a bucket list destination waiting to happen! Can’t wait to visit again!
