Your horseback riding experience at UXU Ranch begins on the first afternoon of your Dude Ranch Vacation. Our Certified Wranglers carefully match you with a horse suited to your riding ability and introduce you to your equine companion for the duration of your stay.
Explore the scenic trails of the Shoshone National Forest, guided by our certified wranglers who will lead you through wilderness, mountains, meadows, and streams. The pace of the ride is tailored to your comfort and skill level, with most rides conducted at a leisurely walk.
In addition to trail rides, our program offers riding lessons and equestrian events, providing you with a comprehensive and unforgettable horseback riding experience.
Experience the Beauty of UXU Ranch with Public Trail Rides
Join us on weekends for public trail rides and explore the stunning scenery that surrounds UXU Ranch. Our experienced wranglers will guide you through the picturesque landscapes that border the ranch, offering a unique perspective of this beautiful area.
Trail rides are available from Friday through Sunday, with options for 1-hour rides priced at $55 and 2-hour rides priced at $100. Immerse yourself in nature and enjoy a memorable trail riding experience at UXU Ranch. Customized rides are available upon request. Please contact us for further information.
Ages 6+ for trail rides. Ages 4-5 limited horse leads in corrals.
The availability of activities is subject to change due to conditions outside of UXU’s control, such as natural disasters, inclement weather, wildfires, flooding, etc.
UXU Ranch requires an activity waiver to be signed for all actives participated at while at UXU Ranch.
Rider Assessment for Safety & Enjoyment
Rider Assessments
At UXU Ranch, we prioritize safety and the well-being of our riders and horses. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, we require all riders to undergo a riding assessment. This assessment is conducted daily and evaluates the following criteria:
1. Ability to ride at a controlled walk or trot, maintaining a safe distance behind the horse in front.
2. Proper riding position in a western saddle, including correct handling of reins, hands, seat, and feet.
3. Ability to follow instructions and effectively cue the horse.
These assessments are designed to ensure that all riders are comfortable and capable of participating in our rides safely.

Our Wrangler staff is led by a lifelong performance, horse trainer, and also consists of professional Ropers, a high level cutting horse competitor and just plain horse lovers.
